safari roof rack mounting

i got a big roof rack for the 91explorer. is the stock mounting points strong enough for a heavy duty roof rack, spare tire, jerry cans etc... or should i mount it in the most outer groves? they seem to be the strongest point on the the roof but would require drilling new holes. the rack itself weighs probably 75 lbs. Any thoughts? also when i do get it mounted.. where are you guys running your wires for your lights, drilling a hole, in the door seal, under the window seal?

i notice this is an old post....ever get that rack installed? i went many different ways with mine....can throw up some pictures later....
