Safari Roof Rack

Ive had a Surco 50"x50" for two years, cost was $24?.00 from Performance... Ive mounted a HiLift to one side and carry my spare up there as well.
This rack is not very heavy duty and I would not recommend the modifications Ive done, as Ive already popped two ot he the rivets out of it.
Additionally it is easy to put this thing in a bind when mounting it, because the cross members that the legs attach to dont allow any room to losen the nuts and adjust while on the vehicle.
As others have already stated it is aluminum and will not rust, but IMOH it is more of a street/luggage type carrier and I imaging its going to fall apart before the summer is over.
The ones that Summit offroad sells look far superior in function and construction.

Andre,

It really depends on your needs. I got an aluminum safari rack from the roadstore and I am very happy with it. Best bet is to call them and they do have great prices. Good luck!
