Safe place to put jack?

I haven't done much work on cars and just wondered where I put the jack to jack up the front end of my 2001 explorer sport 4x4?

There are tabs on each of the lower control arms just for jacking, and pretty much anywhere on the frame is safe to put a jack.

But the owner's manual should also have information about jacking.

I used to jack under the diffs but the manual says to never do that. Why is that?

The front crossmember is a good point to jack the front end up. You should jack from a differential because if part of the jack is over the diff cover you could do some damage, so as long as the cup of your jack is clear of the diff cover you should be fine.

Haha, very nice. Didn't even see that one. I don't always think before I type
