is there like a fix for this? i know everyone has this problem and has been discussed for years... searching through the boards and with my own experince, i have known that its usually the slave cylinder at fault

i just wanna know if anyone with this same tranny can do this...

when it gets hard to shift (like when im at at stop light and everyone behind me is honking), if i just give the throttle a little kick, and rev the engine up and down for a couple seconds with the clutch in, the tranny will all of a sudden like "free up" and i can shift into first/any gear no problem... like if it werent getting hard to shift in the first place... weird huh? ill say that trick works like 75% of the time... mainly when the engine is already warm

some times it doesnt, but yeah more then not that actually clears up the mazda 5-speed blues

anyone else notice that?

my tranny got 176k on it, no rebuilds... 4 clutch/slave/mastercylinder replaces thou

just wanna make sure im not the first one?

I used to just put mine in another gear first.. then it would go right into first.

you know whats funny? i started out by putting it in second, and it would fix itself and i could put it in first... then second started getting hard... so i just went to third first... now ALL the gears (except for reverse) are hard to get into... reverse usually will go but it will grind for a second.

my little reving trick works for me

You wont be happy when you burn up your clutch :)

already done it 4 times ;) took it somewhere twice, replaced it all myself twice

i dont understand why these transmissions are that way... there has to be some kind of fix to keep it from doing it...

maybe a different slave cylinder?

I had the same symptoms before I yanked the trans out last summer. I had a bad slave, throwout bearing and flywheel. I replaced the clutch with the LUK oem set but put in a new Ford slave cylinder. Make sure the flywheel is within tolerant thickness.
Mine had been turned once before and was getting to thin to allow the clutch to release.

May or may not work I had the same problem with second and third gears I drained trans and refilled with Redline ATF I called them first and they said there fluid would fix the problem for 30$ I tried it it works first time trans. has shifted this smooth takes 3Qts good luck

tranny problems

Well w/ my 5 speed I have a problem shifting into 3rd gear (grinding) while driving (above 2000 rpm) and shifting into 1st from a stop. I belive it is a problem with the syncro-mesh in the tranny and only a rebuild can take care of it.

The problem you have is when you push the shifter the sycro engages a blocking ring to slow gear down so it will engage with out grinding. The blocking ring really is a round brake pad and at 100,000 they are usally worn out. These trans are very easy to rebuild if your a weekend warrior.
