Yea he kinda hydrolocked his engine today.. its gone- unrepairable.

we need to get a new engine in there this week.

1) Same engine... obviously the easiest way to go

2) SOHC
-Would he have to re-wire everything for the sensors and computer?
- Would the transission bolt on?
- What else would we have to look for?

3) 302
-Would he need a V8 Tranny too or just a bell-housing adapter?
- Guess totally re-wire everything
- New engine mounts?
- How hard is the new engine placement for this thing to adjust properly?
- And what to do with the 4x4 system..

Please lets try to keep this simple and to the point. And we're looking for actually experienced opinions here .. not enough time to read stuff like "well i remember reading a post that blah blah blah" or "do the V8 cause its cooler". We need to get this thing running this week and need some straight up answers on whats logical at the time.

Thanks

if u need it running this week straight up..v-8s outa the question

The SOHC is probably outta the question to. Just put in the same engine that way you already have all the parts you will need to get it done in a weeks time.

yea i guess thats kinda the obvious answer we expected here. I think i turned on a light above his head to when i just talked to him....

he wanted the SOHC or v8 for more "kick" but he can get a re-man OHV with sweet parts in it (not oem) for way less than $2K from his buddy. We can also have this thing in there in a few hours once we have the engine- which would be a day or two..

and i said "if you want more kick out of it.. instead of wasting a lot of money and man-hours doing a swap, do the re-man and then spend a few hundred more and lets put some 4.10's in your axels..."

i think he liked that idea... but a snorkels first !!

well if you went with the V8 you would need a tranny too......so do the re-man OHV and get a supercharger for it with all that money you saved. :burnout:

i know it was one of those stupid posts but i think you already got you answer you were looking for, so its ok :D
