sct tuner?

ok so i have a 2000 ford explorer 4.0l ohv with some upgrades. i used to have a sct tuner years ago. im looking to get a newer model, but there is like 4 different ones. which would you reccomend and why?

then i can do some passes and data log and send it to a sct dealer to fine tune me a custom tune.

Probably cost you more in the long run. Last I heard, Henson or Torrie charge around $75 for one custom tune, or $150 for three.

yea the last one i had years ago i went through henson. i had a guy fine tune me files for free! he was awsome! i would make a couple passes and data log it, e-mail it to him. then he worked his magic e-mailed me the tune and i put it in my explorer. then i would make more passes and data logs until it was perfect.

i THINK henson charges 100 for one tune now, but i know he charges 150 if you need a turbo or supercharger tune

i been e-mailing them and i haven't heard a reply yet? im trying to get ahold of james from henson. that was the guy that helped me when i had my other sct tuner.

and put the tune in my explorer, would it be ok even if the tunes are'nt made for my truck? i mean i plan on doing some data runs and having james from henson make me a custom tune. the tunes that come with the programmer are just temporarly.

As I recall the main difference between the X3 and the SF3 is the SF3 comes with preloaded tunes while the X3 doesn't. The preloaded diesel tunes are for specific Ford strategies and will not be compatible with yours. However, you should be able to use the SF3 for datalogging and to read and clear diagnostic trouble codes. A custom tune will cost about $150 but often is included free when a new X3 is purchased from an SCT dealer (James Henson) for $379.

ok, well its a little more in price but if it will come with tunes specific for my explorer its worth it! because tunes made for a diesel or other applications wont do me much good. thanks!
