Seat Covers

I just got a call from wetokole stating that they currently dont make car seat covers for the 2016 explorer as they dont have measurements on the new seat. Can anyone recommend another premium quality manufacture?

Also the manual states the following warnings;

Do not use accessory seat covers. The use of accessory seat covers may prevent the deployment of the side airbags and increase the risk of injury
in an accident.

Do not place anything on the seat that insulates against heat, such as a blanket or cushion. This may cause the heated seat to overheat.

Getting my new 2016 Sport next week. Trying to protect the interior from the kid's., etc.

Already ordered weather tech floor mats. Dealer is throwing in rear cargo mat.

Hoping to find some info on seat covers. Only want to install on 2nd and 3rd row while leaving front seats uncovered, want to actually enjoy the front leather seats! We also have these covers that protect the front seat backs, kids love putting their mud covered boots up on the seat backs!! Drives me nuts but what do you do?

My salesman recommend the oem Ford ones as they don't scratch up the leather.
Thoughts? I haven't seen them or anything but they are almost $400 for just the 2nd and 3rd row.

Using the Forum's 'Search' program I found this existing thread and merged yours with it. Being the Ex is about to enter its 7th year of production there isn't much that hasn't already been discussed.
The only thing you have to be careful of with seat covers is not to cover up any heated surfaces which includes the front area of the driver's and passenger's seat backs.

'Search' is your friend.:thumbsup:

I have the OEM seat covers on the 2nd and 3rd row to protect the seats from my dogs and they fit and work quite well. They're very durable (I have 2 large Dobermans) and they fit snug and are washable.

Thanks for the reply.
I read through all the posts but was still wondering about the OEM covers.
Are yours made by covercraft? The Ford website says they are "Seat Savers by Covercraft".
My salesman said they don't stock them and they'll have to be special order. Won't order them unless I'm committed to buying them. Trying to find out what covers they are exactly, material, etc.

I'm also still kinda torn between getting them or not. Some people say they do more harm than good as dirt can get trapped under and scratch the leather. I don't have covers in my current vehicle and the seats look good after 5 years with kids, except some mild deformation from the kids car seats. We do have these pad things that help protect the seats from "kids car seats" though.

I can see covers being a good thing with dogs running around on the seats
for sure.

I’ve got Wet Okole seat covers on my 2019, and they fit great, even with the odd seating configuration. Their truck seat covers a bit pricey, but the quality and fit are top-notch. They’re easy to clean and protect seats really well.

If you have heated and or cooled seats, these may not be advisable. As mentioned in the Owner's Manual, The covers are made with neoprene which is not considered a breathable fabric. Do they have any kind of perforations to allow for limited breathability?
From the manual;
"Do not place anything on the seat that insulates against heat, such as a blanket or cushion. This may cause the heated seat to overheat."
