A basic scan tool will not read codes for the seats. You need a scan tool that can read ALL the modules on your car. My 2018 Explorer has about 43. There is even one for the power liftgate.

SO there is NOTHING under the seat? If so remove it. Only the floor mat should be there when you test.
It could be a wire pulled from a pigtail in the seat causing an intermit electrical issue, MAYBE.
The venting for the blower motor in the seat to the back of the seat.
Thanks for your reply I have nothing under the seat that would block the airflow. I have checked all of the pins and connectors there doesn’t seem to be any problems there. I am trying to find a scan tool that won’t break the bank to see if there are any codes. I will let y’all know what happens.

Can anyone suggest a good scan tool for a 2018 explorer platinum?

I have both

ANCEL FD700 Full System OBD2 Scanner Fits for Ford Lincoln Mercury Vehicles All Functions Automotive Disgnostic Scan Tool with Battery Registration ABS SRS SAS BMS Oil Reset TPMS Engine IQA EPB Regen

Or Bi directional

LAUNCH Creader Elite Bidirectional Scanner fit for Ford Lincoln Mercury Mazda, 2024 Full Systems All Resets OBD2 Scanner, PMI Function Diagnostic Scan Tool, Battery Registration, Lifetime Free Update

Also Forscan. You will need a laptop / PC and a USB dongle. Lots of info on the internet for it. Its a nice to have.

I'm having a problem with the driver's seat heater in my 2018 Explorer. The bottom part gets warm but the seat back doesn’t. Has anyone had this problem?
I have the same problem with my 2017. I am hoping to find advice on this forum.

So I just got home from the ford dealership had the explorer serviced and codes checked the tech only found one code B1209 they said it’s the drivers seat back temperature sensor does anybody have a idea how to troubleshoot this.
