I just noticed a slight noise which I believe is related to the seat heater(s) as it goes away when I turn the seat heater off (and I using the heater, not the A/C). The noise sounds like a fan blowing under the seats. Has anyone else noticed this, and any thoughts on it being a potential problem? I've never "heard" heated seats in any of my previous vehicles with them.

Thanks.

100% normal. There is another thread that discusses the type of heating/cooling elements used in the seats. They are actually one in the same from what I understand.

Fan noise when heated seats are on...

Whenever I turn on my heated seats, I hear fan noise but it seems to be coming from the back of the explorer. It almost sounds like the fans for the rear passengers turn on and off and on and off every 5 seconds or so.

Is this normal?

Thank you

I would say that it is. The new seats don't use heater elements, they run the cooling parts in reverse (so they create heat instead of removing it) and blow the warmed air through the seats. Look up "peltier device" for a good explanation of the process.

From what I understand, the blowers on the Explorer's seats aren't the quietest, and this might be the sound you hear.
