I have a '99 Eddie Bauer which I really like, with one exception. The drivers seat "rocks" slightly whenever it is in any position(Power) other than it's lowest or it's highest. I have had a dealer look at it and they said without taking the seat right out (which look difficult do to the power, heat etc) they can not figure out what is doing it. They tell me that this may be caused by a bent rail which is not covered under my extended warranty?

Also should a light go on on the dash when 4 wheel low is Engaged? This is on the Canadian version.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% sure with the Canadian version, but yes a light should come on the dash that says 4WD Low, or something like that.

Can't help you with the seat, sorry!

same here with the seats. i'm just gonna take it out and see if i could tighten it up. if not, and it's bent or something like that, i'm just gonna get one out of a junker that is in good shape and replace mine. they can't be that much from a junk yard. i am planning on getting some wet okoles but not before the seats are fixed. i don't want to pay that much for a seat i'm just gonna cover so i'm gonna give fixing mine a go. i'll let ya know how it works out.

my power seat rocks too. I took mine out to see if I could tighten it up. Couldn't find any problem when it was out. I put it back in and made extra sure everything was tight. Still rocks. I think that it is "backlash" in the lead screws for the electric motors. I am guessing we would need an entirely new seat rack to fix it.

Yeah.. most Explorer seats rock for some reason.

99ebex- you gotta have leather seats in your EB right? Cause I thought the leather ones were immune to the seat rocking and recline lever breaking. At least mine are. :D

Okay.. maybe it's the non-eddie bauer leather seats.. :D

ok, maybe it's another overdue complaint to the Ford dept. ! like it will do anything.

Wow...I can't believe it is such a common problem. LOL....Misery loves company. It is such a little thing but it really ticks me off. Stuff that just should not happen on a almost 50K truck (Canadian New).

I actually work closely with Ford on the marketing side. I am going to see who I can get to take a look at this and who knows maybe get a recall out on it.

it's not as little as you think. i remember a guy a little while back saying the back part of the seat snapped off going down the highway and he was sitting in the back seat! he was ok but that scared the hell outta me so i gotta get these tightened up one way or the other.

Your right...My wife drives the kids in it all the time and if something happened...I don't even want to think about that.

Mine rocks also as a matter of fact when I started shopping for an explorer I would say that 90% of them rocked when I was test driving them. Definatly a common problem.
