second set of Lights

Hey Guys - OK I'm just beginning to discover that my Explorers headlights are crap and the set of auxillaires mounted below the bumper (fender) by the factory are worse than useless - but I guess you all knew this anyway. My question is, given that the UK regulations are fairly strict about where lamps can be mounted, I am restricted to mounting a pair on the front bumper but Cibies are too deep, so what should I go for - any thoughts.

Can you replace the stock "fog" lights under the bumper? They will still be in the stock location.

I could but currently these lights hit the road about 5 feet in front of the car and there doesn't seem to be a way of adjusting them - is there?

I'd kinda thought that the higher the lamps were the better spread I'd get on the road. If there is a way of adjusting the stock lamps, I might be tempted to replace these with something.

chris, if you buy PIAA 1500 series lights, they fit in the stock fog locations. you have to drill some holes where the stock fog lights are mounted to mount the PIAA's in the brackets. these suckers are bright, and can be aimed. i had a pair till i shattered one wheeling and they were awesome!! they are just as bright as some bigger round style driving lights, if not more so, and they can be aimed to look further up the road then your headlights if you get the clear driving lights (the ones i have). work great for spotting deer at night on the highway so you don't hit them.

Thanks man - I'll see if I can track these lamps down in the UK and I'll let you know how I get on - definately need to avoid the deer around here !!

no prob. let us know how it works out and if you can get the lights. if you surf the internet for half an hour you can usually find a descent price compared to 4x4 stores for the lights.

Chrisjsw, there should be one nut holding the stock fog in place, and its easily accessible. Just loosen the nut, and the light should pivot up and down, so that you can adjust it where you want it. Then just tighten the nut.
