 My X is down for awd transfer case repair, they say the bearings went bad. I want to know if it is at all possible to put a selectable transfer case in it instead of repairing the awd unit. Please help me out as this is my daily driver and I need to get it back up as soon as possible. By the way, it is a 2000 awd 5.0 v8 4 door xlt. Thank you for all the help!

you can put in a BW1354m t-case with an adapter from Advanced Adapters. section525 just finished doing this swap this week. Do a search you'll found out what you need to know.

No one has successfully bolted up a selectable to the 4R70W. It's not an easy task to say the least.

I am selling a '99 AWD transfer case for $225 plus shipping though.. if you're interested.

EDIT: Or you can do what I, and a few others have, and get an Advance Adapter ($500) and have your tranny output shaft changed in your tranny and throw in an electric or manual transfer case. :D

I am actually thinking about putting my c-4 auto and my 208 in it when I sas the front of it. I already have my narrow HP dana 44 and narrow 9", so I would really like to change the transfer case right now instead of putting another awd unit in it and dealing with it another day. Was there never a v8 X available with selectable 2 & 4wd? I would really rather not deal with the computer hassles and such of a tranny swap and would like to keep my overdrive.

Nope. Only 2WD or AWD. Good ole Ford. :D
