I was replacing the outside driver's door handle over the weekend and now have a nasty problem. The story is too long to tell here, but the problem now is this:
1. Had 2 out of 3 screws removed from the door latch mechanism, the 3rd was loose but still in its place.
2. Well, the door closed all the way and is stuck closed. The outer handle doesn't open the door. The inner door handle can't open it either.
3. The window is stuck all the way down and will not go up, for a reason I can't seem to identify.
I've pulled, pushed, and yanked on all the linkage rods which didn't help at all.
Any suggestions on how to proceed? (while I'm enjoying the cardboard window covered in grey duct tape I made to keep out the obvious things, it is getting old fast). It rained heavily yesterday and today but so far no leaks inside the car.
Maybe a locksmith could help? Thanks in advance for any advice that may be available.
