I have a 95 Explorer Eddie Bauer and am having some very weird heating problems. About two months ago I was only getting full hot air or cold air. Sometimes It would only blow hot. I figured there was a problem with the heater control valve.
I never had a chance to fix it and now my problems have gotten worse. Now the hot air blows all the time, even if the unit is turned off. The whole thing has a mind of its' own. Sometimes it will blow on the floor, but most of the time it blows out the defroster. If I hit the off button, I can hear it click and it stops blowing, but a few minutes later it starts up. Again, this is happening while the unit is off. I took the fuses out to stop the fan from blowing. Do I need a whole new in dash heater control module.
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe that is the blend door issue. If you do a search for 'blend door' you should get a ton of results.

I manually put the heater control valve in the 'up' position with some wire and that stopped the hot air from coming in. I wonder if there is some type of climate control unit that might have gone haywire.
