I have a 2008 Mountaineer 2WD V6 and I need to replace the serpentine belt. What do I need to do to relieve the tension on the idler pully? I have done this on GM vehicles so I can do the repair I just don't want to brake something getting the old belt off.

Thanks

Eric

Usually it's a matter of putting a wrench into a spot on the idler pulley and turning it so it relieves the tension.

Ditto. 3/8" square drive ratchet or breaker bar is all you need. A cheater pipe helps a lot if you're solo.
