The service engine light came on at 60,030 miles. Not sure if the mileage has anything to do with it but, the error code on the computer at AutoZone said it was an evaporation leak in the gas tank or something like that. We checked the gas cap and it has a good seal. I was talking to a friend of mine and he mentioned that it could be an O2 sensor. Now for the big question. I am in North Alabama and heading to Atlanta tomorrow, about 3.5-4 hour drive at interstate speeds, will this hurt my truck? Thanks, Les

Another nugget of info. The light came on after a ride on a very dusty gravel road in lower Alabama Monday afternoon and had it reset Tuesday night. It came back on this morning.

Les, there's two common causes for that code. One is the gas cap seal, which you've already checked. Another common cause is the evaporative emissions solenoid that is located above the spare tire. They are in a corrosion prone location, and tend to get rusty and stick. In my opinion, you can drive it without causing further damage......

The solenoids are easy to change, maybe a 30 minute job.

Or it could be the EVAP sensor located below the battery.
