Service engine light on 02'

Staten Island is a hop, skip and a jump for me :) Let us know how it goes with Ford. Did you do the rear liftgate recall fix yet? If not, you might as well schedule that at the same time. I've gotta give my dealer a call this week to get it fixed.

Yup. I have gotten a notice in the mail and scheduled both for this Monday. I know the service manager personally so this should go quick. I am still looking on the internet for the service codes I don't have ( ones over P0812). I can still get the individual codes from Actron so its no rush. Pep Boys has the Scanner on sale now for $99 after the rebate. thats the expensive one. (CP9135)

Well just returned from ford. They did the recall on my 2002 XLT. They replaced the rear window sensor + the kit. NC. The reading on my SES light of P1400 was the (Mike you called it) DPFE sensor. No Charge!!!!. It is an ongoing problem. The Part Number is 4U7Z*9J460*AA sensor assy. The OBD2 Actron unit picked out the problem. I gave them the code at Ford and they smilled. My XLT is now fixed and the idle seems much better. :D :D

Great news Ken! Glad everything is fixed-up and best of all no $$ came out of your pocket. Well, except for the Actron but I think that's a great investment. Will try to get my X in for that recall soon....

Mikephotos,

What dealer do you go to in Queens?. I used to go to friggen Major worlds Service center on 43rd street. The one you have to go over little bridge to get to. Anyways they suck major Ba!!$. They smashed my Power Steering fluid cooler when changing crankshaft pulley. Now I go to Best Ford , they suck too. All they want is to get you to give them money for no work.

Just go here and you can download it in a PDF. and print it out if you want..

When OBD-II was first set up, the code range was 0001 to 999, and everycode was a generic code - that is shared by all manufacturers. Now Codes 1000 and up - those were "proprietary" codes, meaning the manufacturers could program the computer a little differently or monitor something only on their own cars/trucks. The code 1400 would be a proprietary code. Usually each block in the hundreds refers toa specific syatem component 100's, 200 etc. The 400's and 1400's will reference the same system components, one will just be proprietary.

Got a CD with my OBD-II reader that has most of the Proprietary codes(About 5000). Ford and GM codes included. Checked with a Ford Mechanic and he verified the ones I have. Will share what i have with forum.

I go to Able Ford in the Oceanside area. It's actually in Nassau and not Queens but it's easy for me to get to and I prefer driving around Long Island than Queens (better roads).
