MY 2003 V6 with 43K service engine light came on. I had a local shop do a diagnostic and they said both banks which I assume means cylinder banks were rich. They recomended changing intake plenum gaskets. If these are bad at 43K what kind of quality is Ford selling now? The only promblem I have noticed is on about 4 or 5 occasions it was hard to start and I actually pressed the throttle to the floor and then it started. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

if it idles rough, i'd check your fuel pressure, the rich condition may be making up for the lack of flow

Ask for the code/codes it produced, you can look up the codes yourself and pinpoint what may be wrong. FYI - The price you paid for the diagnostic could have bought you your own scanner; ACTRON is popular and reliable model. Email me down the road if you find the codes and I can look them up for you. Could be Oxygen sensors

my '03 mountaineer did the same thing.... it was a sensor in the gas tank. under original emmisions warranty.

Thanks Guys,
I am taking it to the dealer Saturday to have the 02 sensors replaced.
