As it's a new year I'm starting to think about servicing my Explorer for the first time:eek: (bought Sept.last. 112k miles). What lubes are be recommended and any further comments would be appreciated.

Well I use Mobil 1 synthetic in mine. Genuine motorcraft oil filter. Clean the K&N air filter. Grease the new front ball joints. Free up the semi seized hand brake mechanism (rarely used). Check all the pipes for condition and brake pad thickness. I usually flush out the rad system once a year too. :D

I use Halfords Full Synthetic and have done for the last 4 years. I always use a Motorcraft oil filter. The engine never needs topping up between changes so I think it is a good oil to use. [ Watch out for Halfords offers on their oil. I wait for buy one get one free at £29.99].
