my buddy's nissan has remote jump leads under the bumper. Alot of vehicles in my area with shaved handles has them. Basically you hook a pair of jumper cables to them, then it will provide power to pop your doors so you can get in.
locked in, hi hope u can help me out im trying 2 install my inside door handles on the rear doors can u tell me y i can not make it work i put the bar though the loop on handle and it will not open doors only outsie handles r working please help if u can thank you much
I take it you already have some-type of keyless entry system (oem or otherwise)....if so, there's nothing special you'll need. All you need to do is remove the lock and linkage rod. Weld up the hole with a filler plate, and paint it.....simple as that.
When I first bought my old S-10 I had the handles shaved, but kept the lock in place. We changed the linkage so that if the solenoid failed, we could STILL use the lock to actually open the door, instead of using it to only unlock it....make sense? Remember, this was in the early 90's when the solenoids weren't NEARLY as reliable, or strong.
The difference? Well on the X, it's a difference between the UGLY, black ABS Plastic handle, that looks faded if not kept up on. OR a smooth painted surface........on a 1st or 2nd Gen, a similar effect can be done with body paint matching the handles, but it still looks half-assed.
I wouldn't trust JB Weld. Rust can/will get inbetween the materials and you will have a big plug of JB weld that will become unattached with the finished paint on it. I would weld it up or find someone to do it for you. Money well spent.
