Am I the only one confused as to where there is a light in or on the shift knob? Perhaps I am a bit dense this morning but would you please explain this a little better for me?

Having done this job I can tell you it not a big deal. You are going to have to twist - remove - reinsert and twist the socket by feel because you can't really see the opening for it (it is on the under side of the housing it sits in). I worried that it was going to be more difficult than it turned out to be.
You should be able to get the bulbs at any auto parts store.
