Brought it in for a rebuild, needed new torque convertor and there were broken bands and such, they replaced what ever was needed but left the orig valve body cause i replaced everything on it,,,got the car back shifted funky so I bought it back and They went ahead and replaced the valve body,, got the car back ran perfect one night , drove it the next morning and its now clunking when shifting gears while driving, no codes no od light flashing , got to bring it back again friday, he's saying it could be the transfercase but I'm not buying that , any ideas what would cause it to shift hard up and down while driving, no clunks or hard shifting from park to reverse or drive only while driving

I'm thinking they put the red band epc in the truck, what are the symptoms of a red band epc solenoid in a 4r55e , would it throw cel codes or not , I'm bringing the truck back tonight but Ilike to be prepared to give some info , how do you tell a transmission shop they might have put the wrong solonoid in the truck
Thanks

i revising this post ,got the tranny rebuilt in august of 2013 here it is march of 2014 and its been back in the shop every 2 weeks or so since august (thank god for the warrenty but they cant seem to get it right)
im at my wits end ,2 tranny rebuilds 3 converters and god knows how many different valve body rebuilds still wont shift right
most recent is had the symptoms of a bad vss changed it now it ran fine for about a hr perfect shifts ,went to park it then it shifted to reverse back into drive and wouldent go into drive shifted in to first and jumped in to gear then tried reverse and it went but no power to move the car, shifted back in to first and moved,
shut it off tried again and shifted fine to park the car
waited about a hr drove home about 15 mins it shifts fine up but some times wont downshift to first causing it to strugle when i take off from a light. it will down shift if i put it in first but strugles to up shift
i dont know anymore
im thinking valve body ,, no cel ,no codes no o/d blinking
is there anything else i should be looking at either tranny related or non tranny related that would cause this mess ,the shop i brought it to really dosent have a clue about this transmission

Ok changed valve body Wednesday night, ran fine but a delayed shift into drive from reverse, ran perfec for about a hr then i started to notice delay shift tin to second.
Drove to work this morning ran fine for about 15 mins then threw a code for shift solenoid b, went today after work changed solonoid b, ran fine but still delayed shift to drive from reverse drove home about a half hr started to do the same thing as before stop at a light , give it gas rpm revs way to high before the truck has any movement
I'm at my wits end because during test drive it fine till I leave and get halfway home then starts acting up
any ideas from anyone
this is the third or fourth valve body
i noticed the shop uses dex/merc fluid i wonder if this is whats causing my problems

I asked him about the fluid to see if its causing the problems, he said he uses dextron 3 and used it in tons of explorers with no problems, now he's saying it could be my transfercase or rear differential thats doing this to the tranny, I have to go sat morning for him to check it again, but why would it only happen about a hr into driving and not right away
