SHO engine swap

Greetings,

Anybody done a swap of a 3.0 SHO into an Explorer to replace the 4.0?

Is it worth it? Will the engine mate to all Ford trannies available in the Explorer?

I've got an engine (actually a whole car) and I want to do a swap to replace a high milage 4.0 that needs replacing.

Any info or links appreciated,

i know i should do a search but what do you guys think about a 4.0 shoc swap. i have the OHC with over 130k and it anint going to last forever. it makes more sence. i guess i could get my chiltons man. out because i covers 97s but if the trans is the same A4ld then why couldnt i swap one in?

maybe youall have the answer before i start the research.

I think you mean you have an OHV and swap for a SOHC... but I can't be any more help than that.

OHV to SOHC

It may bolt up....but the computer is designed for a 5-speed auto in the SOHC, not the 4-speed auto in 95-96 explorers.

you are correct that was a typo. im looking at either a rebuild or a swap sometime in the near future, i would love to make 200k but at the rate im going that will only be a year a half or so.
