Shock Size?

I am thinking about new shocks the RS 9000 adjustable.
Can I buy shocks for a 6 inch lift now and put them on an unlifted truck, so when I lift later they are ok?
The reason I ask is that I know some have lifted by 2-3 inches and use the same shocks that were on before, they are just maxed out.
Help with a good size and how well these shocks work is greatly appriciated.

I'll take a stab at it for ya Blake.

I'm not to sure I've never thought about doing that. I would think they would bottom out. I mean your rear axle could move down just fine but the shock would bottom out when the axle tried moving up. Do you know what I'm saying here? Thats my best guess!
