Had some other work done so I had shop do an oil change about 2 weeks ago. I put about 100 miles on since. I noticed that the dip stick showed a 1/2" over filled mark. Didn't give it too much thought but yesterday I took off the air breather tube and noticed it had oil puddled in it. I pored out about an once of clean oil. First I thought it mite be blowing the oil out through the oil breather tube. Then after thinking about it more the oil was brand new clean not sure if it is blow-out oil. But maybe when the guy filling at the shop used a hose and didn't pay attention and maybe got his filling hose too close to the oil breather tube and shot some oil rite into the tube.

Any way how bad is it for an engine to be overfilled. What does a 1/2" over come too (about a quart or maybe a little less). I'm thinking maybe they prefilled the oil filter and then put 5 quarts in the engine. Is it general practice (for a shop)to fill the filter before installing.

Any thoughts from you guys that work at shops.
Thanks
Bruce

On this engine? I wouldn't worry about it. It's likely like all of of them & leaks some from under the oil pan or rear main. And if it doesn't I still wouldn't worry much about it as long as it drives fine.

The 4.0 doesn't care too much about being over-filled a little. Don't sweat it.
