Alright guys..I have the short center console in my X. Well apparently I just leaned on the armrest too hard and it snapped so it doesn't stop level with the console anymore but it just drops onto the console now. How can I fix this, any suggestions appreciated.

replace it...sucks huh? I'm not a big guy and mine broke in two years. I can feel it starting to give again... cheap plastic

Ya it does...I just contacted Torrie at FPN and he said 139.00 for armrest and bracket assembly..that's a lot for some cheap plastic.

Ford used to sell just the center bracket in metal for $50.00 a while ago. I don't know if they still have them though.

Ya that's what I thought..Torrie said in 98 they started selling the armrest and bracket assembly as one piece.

Short center console armrest

Yes mine broke as well...I learned not to lean on it too hard. Have not had a problem since. It obviously wasn't made to be leaned on.

It is a good idea to leave somehting similar to a hockey puck underneath the front armrest part, the bracket will not break, as the puck takes all the weight....

i dismantled mine and glued it together, then i took an extra handel, from an electric drill, ant cut the handel to an app, length and monted it underneath the armrest, so it will take the weight from the plastic..looks fine.

i replaced the hinge bracket on a friends 92 xlt last weekend. 30 minute job - if you have the tool to cut the hinge pin (dremel, bolt cutter, air grinder). I used air. Bracket was $50 from the dealer - comes with instructions. This will help: Dead Link Removed
