Should I be concerned with heat??

I mounted a Rockford Fosgate 250A2 amp where the stock amp was. It's running my just installed Qlogic box. Should I be concerend with any heat buildup due to being behind a panel. I do live in South FL, where it's been in the mid-high 80's, & will get hotter in the summer. I only listen to the stereo when I drive the X. I have a performace car I drive most of the time, So I drive the X about 7-10 days a month.

Surprisingly I doubt you'll run into any problems. I had a Rockford Fosgate 150a2 mounted in the same location as you for almost a year and never had a problem. My amp was bridged at 2ohms too so it was making some heat. I never once had the amp cut off due to thermal shutdown. The amp isn't even recommended to bridge below 4ohms but it handled 2 ohms just fine.

The heat all depends on how hard youpush the amp. It may never give you problems, like Jason, but it can happen. I had a pretty hefty setup in my previous truck, and I often had the amps shut down due to the heat. They were Soundstream amps, so they weren't crappy amps either. What did it for me was to put two little 12 volt fans in the panel (computer cooling fans work great). One sucked in cool air and one pushed out the hot. But you may not have any problems. Try it out and see. If the amp does get too hot, it will just cut off and come back on when the temp is low enough. If that happens, then you need to do something. If not, then no problems, turn it up.

while we are on the subject, do yall think it is possible to mount a amp in the same location yall are describing but instead of powering the sub, have it power the highs? i want somethin out of the way and i got the amp for my subs mounted where its easily removable but i want one less thing to worry with.

I see no problem with mounting an amp back there for just your highs. Try it out.

Use a hole saw and make two holes next to the window and then put two fans inside one going in and the other out.
