Should I buy.

HI guys! I'm looking at a 99 EB with 168k on it. It's in pretty good shape except for a tear on drivers seat bottom(109 to replace) and the cruise doesn't work(I think I can fix). The CEL is on and code indicates downstream o2 sensor bank 2. I've got to be able to pass Ga emissions so the CEL has to be off. Guy is down to $1700 leaving me a budget of $300 to fix anything to get it to pass emissions. Is it worth the chance? Like I said it's clean and one owner. I've got to buy something cause my 94 XLT finally let me down and will no longer pass emissions and tag runs out end of May. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

If its a V8 AWD then its a bit high. If its anything other then the V8 its way to high in price in my opinion. Trucks aren't worth more then $1500 now even in really nice condition.

It's the 4.0L sohc

I second this opinion! Do not buy a 4.0L SOHC or you'll be sorry.

The 4.0 SOHC is a headache even when you buy one that doesn't already have issues (or so you think). Skip it.

If need be, buy yourself a little beater car that passes emissions and gets good MPG so you can save the headaches and money for a nicer Explorer later. Then resell your little beater and put that into making your nicer Explorer even better.

Even if nothing is wrong with a vehicle I buy I plan on putting $300 just into the tune-up. Don't spend yourself to the brink on a chance. Be smart.
