i have 2 12" rockfords in my x in a band pass box. i notice all you guys have sealed boxes. they are 4 ohm wired to 2 ohm. obviously there an advantage to change to a sealed box, im wondering what sound difference i will get?

most likely a big difference......

Actually I think most people you will talk to have ported boxes. It all depends on what kind of sound you like and what your subs are designed for. Check your specs.

Here it is right here.

The bass will be more crisp, and the bass will be "tighter".

On the other hand it won't necessarily be as loud. With 2 i don't think it will matter.

In mine all i ever had was a sealed.

i dont really know the specs at this time. i do know there 200 watt rms and my amp is 200 watt rms bridged. thats how i have them wired. i used to have basically the same setup in the trunk of a car with a sealed box and my thump was better at a low volume and also you could hear it a long ways away. do u think it was the sealed box or the trunk? thanks for all the help

box has a lot to do w/sounds, although trunk and airspace also have something to do w/it, in my experiences you would be happier w/a sealed box.....

I had my eclipse 15 in both a sealed and a ported box. The ported box hit deeper and lower notes and the sealed box is tighter and i was actually able to turn up my amp a bit more and get more volume from the sealed box.

When i had it in the ported box the sub moved so much i thought it was going to blow itself apart. In the sealed box the speaker still moves alot but seems to be in a bit more control.

ok i think im going to try a sealed box. i dont think it costs much to build one anyway just didnt want to waste time on it if it was the wrong thing to do. again i appreciate the advice one more quick question any advise on the dimension of the box i should build with what i have

you need to check the specs of your subs before you build a box.....

bandpass boxes arent all that great at all......here's how you should base your decision....

Sealed enclosures - good response and tight bass at most any frequency.... good efficiency

Ported enclosures - greater sound pressure levels than sealed enclosures if designed properly, sloppier bass, must be tuned low for every day listening. Bad design can result in blown speakers. Ported enclosures have a higher efficiency due to the fact the hot air can be pushed out the ports and cool air can then be drawn back in to cool the voice coils.
