Should I pick up an 02 XLT?

I am thinking about buying a 2002 XLT...

Nice unit.. stock and im not into "doing it up". Just looking for a nice practical vehicle.

I have heard bad things about their transmissions and reliability though.

It is a 2002 with 28000 km's, 6 disc stacker, leather, V8, backup sensors, tow package, and the rest of the XLT options.

I can probably pick it up for a bout $26500 canadain (sticker was 46000 CDN).

Is this a good deal? Is this a reliable vehicle?

Any advice for me?

I think it's a pretty good deal. Since your not into "doing it up" the truck should suit you perfectly. Just make sure you go over it with a fine tooth comb before you actually drive it home.

Can you guys name any specific issues I should look for?

If I pick up this one it is coming from a ford dealer with warranty.

I was thinking about taking it to another place for a "Pre Purchase Inspection".

Is this a good idea?
