I just got my X back from the shope and it cost $375 to put new rotors and pads on. Is that a good price or did I pay too much? Also does annyone know how to put on a emergency cable on a 93 X cuz mine rusted off. Do I really need it? Pics would help a lot.

Way too much, I replaced my rotors (50 each) and pads which i had a lifetime warrenty on. Took me a couple of hours to change it.

I thought it would be more like this:

thats fine for parts and labor.

I paid 190 all together...........50 for each rotor, and 90 bucks for 2 hrs labor.

Don't let a shop rip you off, brakes are not challenging at all. Gain some experience, do it yourself!

Geez. Did they offer Vasaline?

well i just bought a new caliper and pads for the front only cost me about 40$ calipers are 32$ (inc core charge 15$) from advance auto parts, Wearever GOLD pads are 24.95 and rotors are a lil bit expensive i think like 40$ each, i am sure there is a core on the rotors.

bnichols04:
You should go back in and ask for at least $11 back on that job. They charged you for two sets of front brake pads, they are using parts from Autozone ( i know cause i work there). The pads come as a complete set of four for the whole front end for $11.

I paid 800+ for that job once.....

800?????????? damn dude, explain...

Bah, I try to pretend it never happened....there is a thread somewhere amongst the forum with my ranting and venting....hopefully it will stay forever in the bowels of the explorerforum to never rise again!

(Yea, I got ripped of BIG time!)

Don't feel bad, Steve. Most of us got charged way too much at one time or another. It also depends on your situation at the time. When you are stranded in the middle of no where and the mechanic said he wants $400 to get you on your way again- it's a bargain.
