When mudding should overdrive be on or off, or does it really matter?

not really an expert but i think you should wheel in D, I think the od is a little weak and might burn out.

are you ever going to be going fast enough to be in overdrive?, mudding at 60 mph seems a little quick...Leave it off because of the added stresses on the tranny if you ever do find yourself going that fast.

Good advice. The general consensus is to turn off the OD while off-roading, or even when tooling around in the city. Reduces tranny-seeking at lower speeds, which in turn reduces wear and tear on the tranny. It's argued that your city mpg will decrease costing you more in gas, and over the life of the truck may be more than the cost of a new tranny. The other side says if you want better mpg, buy a VW!

I only run my OD on the highway, now. I used to keep it on in the city and noticed I got about 15 mpg. Now, with it turned off, I get about 14 mpg in the city. I think it's worth it to save wear and tear.
