Just wondering if there should be fluid in the speed sensor hole, where the speedometer gear is. When I switched transmissions a couple years ago, I think i vaguely remember fluid dripping out of the hole.

Fast forward 2 years, and I need to change the speed sensor. Cruise control is hunting, speedometer is bouncing at high speeds, shift solenoids aren't working right.

The speedometer gear is bone dry. Is this an indication of low transfer case fluid level?

You should definitly see fluids on the speedo gear. If it is dry, you just might be low on fluid. Pull the fill plug(top plug) on yout T-case, and add some fluid till it dribbles out. See if that helps any.

I'll do that. It could be I have the truck jacked up on a weird angle, but I will be jacking it up evenly tonight (i got more axle stands then I did yesterday)

I'm going to check the transfer case fluid anyway, might as well do it while i'm doing the transmission flush.
