Tried to find replacement shock absorbers for our 1998 4.0 V6 RWD 4-Door XLT but can't understand the FORD Parts Numbering system. Found out that the numbers stamped on front shocks (F77A-18045-AA), have NOTHING to do with the actual part number for same when trying to find replacements. Local FORD parts counterman said, "Oh, that's just the engineering I.D. number, not the part number." No wonder why lots of motorists just tell their mechanic, "Well, just call me when it's fixed." Over and out.....
