I got this idea from a guy to take a shower drain and conect it to the MAS and put a conical air filter on it. The directions from the guy are at: Dead Link Removed Does anything seem off about his directions that could cause problems? I put on a $24.99 Auto Zone conical filter on it (APC?) When i put it all together and reset the computer then drive it, there is a clicking noise at 3K rpm. Could this be because I need a K&N or that I need to plug/unplug the vacuum line that went to the airbox? Has anyone else done this? Any help is apprecited.

anybody....:(

I wouldnt swear to it, but I think alot of people complain of ticking in that range. Putting on the open element filter is going to make the noise more obvious. Unless its a total crap filter, I doubt thats your problem..make sure you arent leaking air between the plastic drain piece and the MAS though (might wanna make up a gasket for it)

has anyone done this and had problems with a lope, similar to a cam sound? i have a feeling the inner tube is too small and not getting enough air to my mas, anyone know anything about this?

Rules:
Why use plastic when MAS adapters are so cheap and readily available these days?

Why put a cheapo air filter on there, the point of an air filter is to stop harmful dirt/dust from entering the intake, a cheapo filter will not do this.

Never use an adapter with a smaller inner diameter then the MAS sensor, the sample tube must have flow going into it.

Always re-set the battery/computer after adjusting/replacing/or increasing flow

Vacuum lines get plugged or plumbed, not left open to atmosphere.

I dont understand why people fab up $5 intakes on a $10K truck, bite the vullet, order the $40 KKM, or at least buy a K&N universal cone and a cheapo metal MAS adapter.
