Shroudedinlies First Gen Project/DD

I def need an alignment, I am constantly going back andbforth with the steering wheel to drive straight. The wheel also has a few degrees of dead space, meaning I can turn it a bit and the wheels won't turn.

So guys after much thought I am going to be keeping the explorer for a while so I have decided next month I am going to be buying a reman engine from engineguy.
A lot more to come also :)

That being said, since it is just a long block, what other parts should I replace while the engine is out? I want to be thorough so I am not constantly replacing parts under the hood.

Some more random pics and audio stuff we are working on. Please keep in mind the truck is currently a DD project, so I know she isn't very pretty right now..

Wrapped up in sound deadener and the gaps filled with expanding foam. As I have said before the floor of the trunk is reinforced with fiberglass and 1/2 MDF, the roof is reinforced with 1/2 MDF as well as the rear hatch.

We plan to cover the rear fenders with felt wrapped MDF to clean it up a bit, a custom amp rack is in the process of being made for me by my friend (the previous owner) to hold my 4 amps (soon to be 5 once I add some subs).

The front doors are fiberglassed and wrapped to hold 2 10" speakers each. I am short so the speakers barely clear the seat when the door is closed!

Nice !

Thanks Bruce.

Rear shocks/shackles + hubs are going to be installed hopefully by this weekend, then in a few weeks I will order the 2" spacers and AAL so I can put the new front shocks on and get an alignment.

Put in some fuel injector cleaner into the gas tank yesterday, going to give it a few days of driving to see if I notice a difference (currently not driving it regularly until the shocks are done). I was having a problem on a warm start, it would flood 1 cylinder but after a few seconds and giving it some gas it would start. It would start 100% of the time so it was not terrible, but definitely annoying and not right.

Also should be doing some more work on my audio setup this week. Currently all the speakers are in but we need to run wires for the rears and install the amp rack and amps. Fun stuff ahead

Are you guys positive the Rancho 5000 P.N: RS5039 won't fit in the front on stock suspension? Every website I go to says it will fit but a member on here has told them they are too long? Thoughts?

Should be installing my rear es3000 shocks tomorrow.

Anyone sure about those rancho's? Installing the rears for sure tomorrow and would love to also do the fronts

Lots of pro-manual hub comments here, but I can't give a bad report for autohubs. Yes they can break under hard use, and they are very easy to replace as opposed to other 4x4 parts. They also disengage for a moment when you change directions. I keep a spare in the back wrapped up and ready to go, and I wheel mine fairly hard sometimes (its a dd too). The cleaning is the trick, I use like a half a can of brake clean before I even soak them a few times in solvent. We also coat with atf and drip them out for a day or two before wrapping them up. When I go back to 2wd I back up for a few feet tops before mine click to "free". Been using them them for 6 years now, only two failures...

Yeah with all of your comments I have returned the manual hubs and I will be getting my autos cleaned up. Thanks for saving me money guys

Every website I see says those rancho 5000's are for 0-1.5 Inches of lift so I am going to try to install them tomorrow and see how it goes.

Have returned almost all my audio equipment as well :(
Audio will be on hold until I get the truck 100% reliable. I have to fix the inch of dead space in my steering wheel. I can move the wheel almost an inch in each direction before it starts to turn the wheels. And hopefully the front shocks will get rid of my wheel wobble over bumps. Will update on this

They will fit but you will have only 1.5" up travel.

Which is ok cuz the bump stops are only 1" off the axle stock.

What were they thinking?

It does give you about 4" at the wheel but still!

Well you said the magic words "they will fit," thanks!

Once tax returns come in the shop she goes, for now I figure I will at least do the shocks. Hopefully the rain lets up tomorrow so we can do it
