Soooo..
My explorer, 79500 miles, started shuddering while braking. Basically, every revolution there was the feeling of more braking, and then less...and if I braked hard, it was fairly pronounced THUD-THUD-THUD-(and the noise slowed down as I decreased in speed). It was definitely happening every wheel revolution. You can hear and feel it in the brake pedal. ABS light is NOT on.
The feeling and sound all indicated it was coming from the front of the vehicle.
So, my first thought was that I had warped rotors (they had 80,000 miles on them).
I went and picked up a set of brake pads and new rotors for the front wheels.
I put them on tonight without much trouble, 30 minutes per wheel.
I hopped in, pumped the brakes good, and took her for a test drive around my subdivision. Same damn thing.
Sooo, its not my rotors, and its not my pads.
I noticed when I pulled off the old pads that they were wearing unevenly LENGTHwise... on both the passenger and drivers side of my vehicle, and the outer pads were less worn than the inner pads.. Whats going on? is it my calipers?
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!@!@
