side mirror question

k, so im just thinkin here... are the side mirror housings interchangable? Like if I got some off of say a 2000 XLT, would they fit on my 03 sport? I know the shape is a little different, but they would match up right. Just like matts carbor fiber missors matched right?

i think so, they look the same... i know the older doors were basically the same as newer ones... not too sure on the really late models though.... but i do think some of the gen 1s have swapped to newer mirrors with puddle lights...

hey...while we are on the subject...ok, on the mirror where it pivots...so you can fold the mirrors in...could that piece be taken off and switched with like an expedition or newer sierra??? cuz i want a mirror with the chrome backing on it...i was looking at them but not up close and it may look like it could fit in that pivot spot...and if so, is there a screw to hold that part of the mirror or does it just pop off??? i realize i would need to unplug the power mirror before taking it off...but hey, if it does fit that would be cool...
