i almost bought a used 05 jeep wrangler it was the 4.0 liter and it was a stickshift and it was yellow colored and it had a 3 inch lift kit on it and 35s on it and exhaust.

it was for sale for 18k I was going to buy it and when i went to the delearship they told me they sold it. So I was looking around for an suv and then i saw my this 01 sport for sale and it had like 12,078 miles on it and i called the owner up and asked how much they are asking and they sold it to me for 13k. So now currently i am driving the sport.

Maybe in the future i will get a jeep wrangler.

My girlfriend has an '04 Overland edition with the 4.7L H.O. motor, that thing really has some power and the 4wd system on it grips 100 times better than my explorer. She would go on two-tracks every now and then near her house, but that's about it off-road wise. The Jeep is much better off road than my Explorer, but I do have more room inside than she does...that's about it haha. Enjoy your Jeep!

The overland is my favorite edition. I have the 4.7 but not the high output. I'm pretty sure she has a Dana 44 in the rear also. Thats a pretty heavy duty axle for factory.

Why you dumping the Ex for a Heep?

Sorry couldnt resist, this is why I got the heep. A 5 foot tall rock and all 4 tires on the ground

Dayummm

Thats just not right.
Haha

I have had many Jeeps and X's over the years. As far as room, comfort, and being family friendly, the X is on top. Now for off-road and modability (is that a word?) it's the Jeep. Here is one of my XJ's and my old F-150 that I built. BUT it is a lot cooler to see a very modified 3rd gen than a ZJ or WJ.

That is funny. I went and tried to trade in my Ex when I got the most recent "check transmission" warning. I looked at a sweet 2004 Grand Cherokee. It had the inline 6 and the quadratrac 2 system. It only had 48k and they wanted $9,900 for it. They did not offer me what I considered reasonable for my Ex though. They were about two grand below Kelly Blue Book. I can have my transmission rebuilt for that.

I hope you enjoy the Jeep. I like that generation much better than the new model. That old inline 6 is bulletproof. Maybe come back and post some pics once you get some bigger tires and a lift on it.

Did you leave your lift and tires on your Ex when you traded it in? If so did they count off for it?

Good luck w/ that. If it's a 99-01 watch that front drive shaft. Rear axles too are a pain w/ those, they have a pressed on bearing/seal but I've always liked those trucks..time to go find a Jeep board now :)

Not a problem at all!

Yea I think they counted off for it, I only got 2500 for it. Mine had been wrecked though. Thanks for the support guys, this is a great community here.
Nice pics 97awdx! I do miss the room in the ex.

Yea stay away from the new model if you want to off road and mod. They got away from the straight axles in 05 and up. And if you ever look around at them again check out the select trac t-case, I think its the best of the 3 to choose from.

Wow! It's nice that you have a Jeep, but won't you miss the ribbing you get here? :) If you run into a guy at the other forum making a helluvalotta mistakes, it's me... I just like the Jeeps and the peeps there are friendly too.. Have fun!

Holy **** Jutgin, sick picture!

Why do you prefer the select trac? The quadra tac 2 is supposed to be able to send power to each individual wheel so you keep moving even if only one wheel has traction. Seems like a good thing to have. I am sure the reliablity and longevity is better on the select trac since it does not engage unless you do it manually.

They only offered me $2500 for my Ex as well. I swapped out my big tires and wheel spacer but left the lift on it. I put them back on since I did not trade....

I just dont like awd vehicles. I like to have the 2wd option for a dailey driver. And also if I want awd I have it with the select trac (nv242) It has 2hi,4hi,AWD,4lo.
And I'll send you a link here cause it's not 100% clear to me but I think it's only the quadra-drive not the quadra-trac 2 that does the all torque to 1 wheel thing. Looks like you have to have the vari lock axles and they usually only come on the special models like the limited and overland.

also I just read where it looks like the select trac does the torque to 1 wheel thing also.

I like the AWD on my Ex. It is pretty seemless and is nice in the rain or slushy stuff. You might be right about the quadra-drive being the one that does that. I would be fine with a select trac model too. I like the inline six though. The V8 has more power but that old 4.0 will run forever.

too bad you cant get selec-trac on the v8 models.

You can, I have the Laredo upgrade, comes with the 4.7 V8 selec-trac and heated leather, Dana 44a in the rear.
