OK I just booked fri @ the grandville, awful long conf. number! anyway Ill see ya there.

Cool, as we get closer to the date I will get you guys all directions to the hotels and to my school.

Dunes

I have been going there for about three years now and i love it. i am going with about 6 other rigs and several quads, but I was wondering if you guys are meeting somewhere at or on the dunes on the weekend of the 6th? I would love to meet up with some X owners and people from this site.

Read the rest of the post...all 9 pages..we are planning to meet up at Travis' school, and probably McDonalds.

Ok i told my dad to book friday at grandville best western. Hopefully he did it last night. He said he did :) We'll prolly drive up in 2 explorers, but take 1 in at a time. Im not fully sure yet, but my dad doesn't want to drive alone.

I know it's kinda late, but i have a listing of about 10 local hotels that give discounts for people who mention GVSU or who print out the paper off the internet. one was $37 per night. It's about a half hour from my school. Visit this link for more info:
http://www.gvsu.edu/maps.cfm?section=CM&subsection=HO

Sorry I didn't find that earlier....

It seems my dad is partial to Best Western. He didn't want to stay at Holiday Inn or Comfort Inn or Motel 6. My dad said he likes best western the best. Thats all good, because then i can meet up with skkiora and the guys!:bounce:

I don't know how much fun I would have with a bone stock 2002 Explorer. I could possibly drag the Wife along.

Jason

This would be for the 27th. I'll check on it.

Is your truck v-6 or V-8? I saw a brand new 2002 out at the dunes last fall...it appeared totally stock and he was actually doing better then me.....:frustrate

As long as you have 4WD you should do fine...the only complication i see with the new explorers is the runningboard hang down more....but if you have runningboards I still think you'll do ok. the 2002 I saw last year was an eddie bauer i think and I remember it having runningboards.

You should do fine with a stock 4x4. I've seen a few front wheel drive cars up there. I saw a AWD van too. Even a Subaru making it up test hill a bunch off times.

Silver lake

Hey all! I'm new to the boards here. I'm not a explorer owner. I'm a proud owner of a Ranger. I was jsut wondering if the meet is still planned for the 6th. if so I'd love to come up with you guys. if I'm welcome(being a ranger owner). if so pm me and let me know so more inof. I'm from downriver area. right by 96 and 94. so if i'm welcome let me know.

Anyone is welcome.....how far south of holland are you?

Welcome RANGER XLT01.

There are are a significant number of people from SE mich heading over on the 6th. These include the explorer group here, a bunch of F150 guys and some big Bronco owners. In addition I know of several different ranger clubs that are going to be there.

Some of us are going on Friday the 5th. Many are going on Saturday morning the 6th. If I understand it correctly, the Detroit area F150 and some explorer guys are meeting at the Howell exit on I-96 at 7 am and convoying over to the McDonalds at the first exit north of I96 on US31 to meet up at 9am. They are then heading to the dunes at 10am. Heck, that convoy alone should be a hoot.

BTW 95xlt, downriver is considered the southern suburbs of the Detroit area

Thanks. i'm from Illinois so I don;t know all the Michigan terminolgy yet....i'm just getting used to people pointing on their hand when I ask where they are from.....lol

That convoy that is stopping at McD's will be cool. The convoy starting at my school may join up at that McD's. I'm not sure yet though..maybe if we show up to the dunes in 2 smaller groups it would be better then both of the convoys showing up all at one time. I dunno..i'll talk to some more people and decide.

Is it possible to get from Howell to Muskegon in two hours? What time is the Explorer groups planning to depart from GVSU?

BTW, looks like I will be staying at the Amerihost Inn in Coopersville on Friday night.

Eric

I was aiming to leave GV at 9:30. Figured everyone would meet me here at 9. Thatway if we want to stop at McD's we could, if not we could get up to the dunes early.
