There is a ton of useful info in the HAM forum here. I don't think you need to go crazy unless you are really into radio stuff. I have a small Uniden CB and a Wilson Little Wil antenna (mag mount). Cost about $80. I just use the cig lighter for power since I take it the CB out when not using it.

Crap!!!! It is snowing here!?!?! This sux, it better be warm by SL time.
As far a CBs go, I just have a small and cheap (I think it was like $35 from Meijer) Uniden unit that I have mounted under the dash under the ash tray. Im not sure what I am doing for an antenna, I might use just a magnetic mount that my grandparents have, or I might buy a 4' fiberglass one that mounts to my roof rack. Either way, its not very expencive. I also use my cig. lighter for power.

I just dont want to have some huge antenna sticking out. I know nothing about these but want to get a decient one. How hard are they to wire?? You have to drill a hole through your roof to hook up the antenna??

No drilling required! There is a gromet or two in your rear hatch that the cable can go in, and then you can route it up front from there. I think you can also run it in through one of your doors if your careful not to pinch the wire. If you look in the CB and HAM forums on this site, there is tons of info.

It's because your Java thing is setup wrong. I had the same issue. i just changed a setting and it woreked fine again

Hmm, I can't seem to get the chat to work either. My computer is pretty messed up though. I really need to do a clean install on Win98, but I am going to wait another month till school is out before I tackle that project.

If your running Internet explorer go to tools, then internet options, then hit the advanced tab. look down in the list for Microsoft VM. under there you will see 2 boxes that say Java by them. make sure those are checked. on mine there is a third box that says JIT something or other and that is checked also. right above Microsoft VM is a program named Java(sun) and it has a single check box under it. uncheck that box. That Java(sun) program is what made it so my computer could not go in the chat. Also if you haven't updated your files lately, try going to tools then windows update and run the programs update thing to make sure you have the latest files. That fixes problems 50% of the time right there.
If you guys have any other questions or problems let me know as i fix computers for my job and can try to help with anything.
As for the Silver Lake trip....all I gotta say is if it is as sunny and warm as it is today, then this trip couldn;t have been planned better! lol...

95XLT- I don't think I'll be meeting at GVSU. I will just meet everybody up there. I don't have a CB but I have a Nextel. It usually worked up there until I get into the park. If anyone else has one, PM me if you want my number.

Well, believe it or not, I think we could possibly be all set on food. Between people bringing hot dogs and burgers, chips, and ill bring some potato salad, if every one byobs, that might be enough. Anybody have anything else they wanna bring? If nobody has a canopy, how about a big ole tarp that we could string from X to X, redneck style? My Nextel # is 130*112*24077, but im not sure how they work up there. Last summer they didnt work for crap, but I think they have a new tower. Okay, im gonna pick a number for CB channel, um how about channel 10?
People going to SL FRIDAY: There will be a small caravan heading up friday afternoon at 2:00pm, we are meeting at the carpool lot off of 96 by the Allendale exit. Please let 95XLT or myself know if you would like to join us.

Yep, we had snow here yesterday. We didn't get too much, just enough to stick. However, some areas to the south got 8".

Man I cant understand half that jargon. We're leavin south elgin il at 3 pm and should make it to the grandville best western around 8 or 9, depends how hard i can push the X.
