I joined the site last night while I was looking for some replacement shocks for my Explorer. I have a '94 XLT w/ 186,000 on the odometer. It's got a tired 5-speed in it and after looking through some of the threads I realized that the Explorer transmissions aren't the toughest. I should be happy I got as many miles out of mine as I did. I already bought a replacement engine, trans, and transfer case out of a '94 Ranger w/ 65,000 miles on it, just need to swap it. Anyhow, you guys have a great site here and I've already found all kinds of useful things for my Explorer. Next thing on the agenda is finding some shocks. The popular response I've found has been the Rancho 9000s. I only drive mine on the street, so I'm looking for some street friendly shocks that provide a smooth ride. At any rate, it's good to be part of the site.

Welcome.

Monroe Reflex and Sensatracs are a popular choice for your needs. I researched the same a few months ago and ended up with the Reflex. I love em.

Prepare to spend LOT of $$$ now that you've found this site. ;)

Welcome to the site & yeah this place isn't cheap ;)

Welcome Green94. I have a '92 XLT 5 speed. Mine only has about 139K on it. Tranny whines like the dickens though. Will have to replace it when I can afford to. The whining drives me crazy plus it causes my X to suck gas big time.

My trans whines like a beat dog. I think that's part of my fuel consumption and lack of power. When I drop in the lower mile parts, I should see a boost in both departments. I've got basically the same X as u Ford, only 2 years newer and 40k more on the odometer. Thanks for all the shock recommendations also guys.
