Ok, Does anybody know if the Skid Plate's for Shock Mounts located here = http://www.4x4central.com/shockplate.html , fit on a 1997 Explorer Sport? I see that they fit on Jack Lobdell's 1992, but how about my 1997? Does anyone have a way to compare the Ford Part numbers from a 1992 and a 1997? Oh well any help is better then none.

Dr. Jack said no....

I asked Dr. Jack before he passed away if they would fit a 98 XLT (it's a BIG problem, there's a chunk missing from the left one on my wife's truck). He said that they wouldn't but he would look at a solution for late model Explorers after he finished with the current project. Obviously, he didn't have time to do that. Yet another reason to lament his passing, albeit a minor one.

Best,
Brian

Hummmm

Well how about if we ask the Nice people who make the current ones, if they can make a few sets but with the stock ford bracket for the newere model's????

Rick how about it, would they be intrested in make some for the newer Explorer's???

You all should be able to go to any 4x4 shop and have some plate steal with holes drilled in the correct places welded onto your existing ones. Or you could try some welding shops. I think that this should be a fairly easy task for any competent welder to do for you. I am sure if you set your parts down along with a picture of one of the modified ones off this site and showed someone who does this sort of stuff what you want done I am sure its doable.
