I just bought a 2009 eddie bauer 4x4 with 40k. The ford dealership put new michellin x terrains on at 39k. When i road tested it i only went in city traffic because there was no freeway near by. On the way home there was a bad shimmy at anything over 50mph. I turned around went back and had them balance the tires. They did and claimed it was good. Needles to say I had the same ride on the way home. I knew it was a poor balancing job on their part. When I got home I took it to a local shop that I trust and they were able to get them in line. I tested it on the freeway at 75 and the ride was nice. Here is the problem. At anything over 75 I get a slight shimmy in the car. The local shop said the tires are not the issue and the balance is near perfect as it was checked again. What could be causing this shimmy. I have owned 6 different 7-10 explorers and mountaineers and have never has this problem. Pleas help!!
