Anyone find the grip in the wet to be a little lacking? Just moved over from an old BMW 325 which stuck like glue in all conditions and found the explorer to be a little twitchy in the wet...to put it mildly! Running on goodyear wranglers and the rear ones are starting to show they're age so was thinking of changing them soon, hoping that might improve things. Anyone recommend a brand? Thought about Pirelli's? Too scared to fit bridgestones or firestones! By the way I'm talking about on the road and not off.:salute:

Hi Richie welcome to the forum
lol theres a lot of richards here now i think u make it 4?!!!!
I had some AWFULL tyres on when I picked mine up ....
after a couple of tank slappers I had em changed to some AT 50/50 all round and have all the grip I need
really feels secure on the road and off
there are probably 1 million tyre threads on the site ...
sure as you find your way around the site and meet the guys you will find all u need to know and more
good luck :D

Cheers Rich, I'll have a hunt thru . Is AT the brand name of your tyres ?

i know how you felt i came from an st24 estate which was quick for a non turbo estate and loved roundabouts much the same as yours! i know will only do a roundabout with caution in the wet as its quite dicey and have been sideways a few times only for the 4x4 to pull me out of an arse slide in time.whilst youve got leaf springs at the rear itll always be twitchy but as with everynew car youll get used to its limits,im now going the other way as im getting into offroading having joined a club and will soon be driving round with mud tyres on all the time so ill be cornering even slower which is a good thing for me as i find myself still playing traffic light grand prix up to the speed limit on occasions, any hope you enjoy your ex ,regards (another!) richard:)
