Hey guy's.

Here is my question.. where can i get slotted or crossdrilled roters? I have a 2001 XLT v8 AWD with 4 wheel disc breaks... now i want them seeing as how i warped my old roters only after 20k.. im hard on my breaks... would this help keep them cool? or should i not spend the extra $$ and just get reg roters? if so where can i get crossdrilled or slotted roters? any one have them? how do you like them? where did you get them? please post where you got them and if they will work on my truck...

thanks

I installed some slotted rotors up front on my 94. It made a huge diffrence for me. Lots o bite now. I picked mine up at performance products.

DBA (Disc Brakes Australia) makes them for front and rear. I looked at getting them myself. I suggest you look them up. www.dba.com.au

Couldn't you just drill them yourself? I've been thinking about this but wasn't sure it if is possible?

Happy trails!!

VERY worth it. Put some on the wife's Avenger, made a big difference. Got mine from raceconcepts on EBAY. If your rotors are not listed, just e-mail them. He will get your application.

www.raceconcepts.net

If that happened after only 20K I think there is a problem and Ford should replace them for you free of charge unless you wanna get the other rotors. I dont have any experience with them but I have only heard good things

i was thinking of this too, but only for the front since they take the most abuse. kinda pricey too. if you get them, let us know how you like them.

one more question... whats the dif with crossdrilled? as to slotted? does one do somthing the other does not? or is it just looks?

one other question i have... can slotted or cross drilled roters be cut? or once they need to be cut you buy new ones? cause if thats the case.. i would rather buy reg roters..

what did you guys pay for them? am i looking to spend about 150-250 for them

prices are on the website ?

they are pricy, but are supposed to last a long time.
before I knew about the slide pin having to be cleaned every so often....I wound up warping a rotor with about 38k on the truck,I looked at the other 3 and figured it was only time till it happened again,so I started with a full set from Dean at A.R.T. along with the carbon pads and performance friction brake fluid.

My wife's Avenger went through 3 pairs of front rotors, in 20k miles! Called to have the fronts replaced that third time and the tech told me they were not covered any longer. Oh well....I was tired of those POS anyway. Bought the "slotted" and "dimpled" for $100 (for both). You don't want the "drilled" rotors, they will crack. As far as having them turned, I feel the rotors will never get that worn to have to do that. They will outlast your vehicle (as long as you are not racing your X's).:D

cross drilled rotors let the gas produced by the pads when they get hot to escape thru the holes into the vent in the center. if the gas doe snot escape it creats a sall barrier in bewtween the pad and the rotor ad impeeds on its ability to stop the vehicle.

slotted rotors allow a similar effect but not to the same extant and also tries to bite into the pad by adding more friction. ive heard these eat ur brake pads tho. dotn know if its tru, it would make sense to me.

never heard that drilled rotors crack. have to look out for that.

i wouldnt drill ur own rotors tho, they need to be perfectly balanced or there will be vibration. if u really want them, buy the ones thats have been done for u so u can blame the company if theyre screwed.

Hey Mikke, like I said above, look up the DBA web site and you might actually learn something instead of asking all these questions. Even though it's an Aussie site, they do have US distributors. Once again the site is www.dba.com.au

OK HERE IS THE DEAL... im looking at 2 kinds right now.. Power Stop crossdrilled roters.. model # AR-8554 for $108 each...

Or

DBA slotted roters.. model # DBA-860 for $112.50 each.

what would be better for me? the crossdrilled or slotted.. all i do it reg driving.. i go on the beach a lot.. and im reallly hard on my breaks.. what makes crossdrilled better then slotted? or vise versa? anyone have more info on this ? please any input would help...

im gona be getting them from www.precisionbrakescompany.com

thanks

Mike

i dont mean to interupt mikke's post but i was wondering when you guy that have the slotted or crossdrilled rotors can ya'll take them and get them resurfaced (turned) at the local auto parts store or do you have to buy new ones. or do you just put new pads on it and go?

sorry once again just trying to get some info.

if it were me id be gettin cross drilled rotors cause ive never heard a complaint b4 this thread on them. but if u really cant decide seee if you can find rotors that are both. i know they exist, but dont know if they make em for an x.

under normal driving, the rotors shouldnt need to be turned i believe.(somebody correct me if im wrong)

So there will be no warpage at all with these rotors? That may be worth their expensive price.
