'94 EXP XLT
Posted before when the accident hapened 2 months ago. Long story short '94 Exp hit in driver's rear, Other driver w/ no insurance, mine won't pay. $4K in repairs. Wanted to know if it would unreasonable to have a body shop just strainten(think it's called pulling w/ a machine out the rear, then wait a few monthsthe finish repairs. The reason I ask is that I can't afford to do a total repair at one time. Besides some of the smaller things I can do myself. The auto shop originally told me no that the Exp had to be done at one time. Didn't make since. Opinions?

for 4k id probably just get a new vehicle. if thats possible. just my opinion. good luck

Sorry to hear that man. I'm sure you can do it in stages if you try a few shops. But 4000 dollars is probably more than the truck is worth. I wouldnt spend that money for repairs. Seriously consider taking that money and investing it in a new car or something, you'll be happy you did. Good luck man.

wouldn't 4g's worth of damage total a 94 explorer? That's like 100% of it's value- i think you're getting shafted man!

Other driver w/ no insurance, mine won't pay. $4K in repairs.

i dont think he has a choice in that matter

Correct, no choice in the matter. Pretty much screwed w/ it. Thanks for the help.

is it drivable right now? if so and another vehicle is out of the question i would just drive it. then as you can get it repaired little at a time.

Is it still drivable? If it still runs and will pass inspection, I'd drive it till it dies.

REDRIG!!!! holy smokes... we asked the same question at the exact same time... thats freaky

the reason the shop wants it all done at onceis for liability reasons... if there ris a problem with it, and it causes an accident, after they let it go, you could sue.... its to cover themselves... which is understandble...

That would be the goal, to get it drivable and pass inspection. Right now the rim and tire are gone and the axil was pushed forward w/ the spring bent. This makes it undrivable. My goal would be to get these done first then the body work for the panel w/ the rocker panel and painting.(This part is cosmetic in my opinion)

In that case, just do the minimal to get it back on the road again

front or rear hit ?

Rear cool you are in luck.

It should be no big deal to have them pull the rear
back into shapeand send you on your way.
They most likely will have to remove the rear bumper, and most probabally some interior stuff.

Really though, you are not screwed. There is no reason the other guy shouldn't pay.
I believe even in Virginia you MUST carry at least laibility coverage.

I believe even in Virginia you MUST carry at least laibility coverage
thats most states but this guy was driving with any insurance illegaly. but you have a point. imhotepmd do you have uninsured motorists on your policy i think that is a must.

Like I said it's a long story but no uninsured motorist insurance. I'll probably try to call a few repair shops to see if they can pull it straight. Main damage to driver's rear panal, axil, spring, and bumper, othe minor damage.

Sorry to hear about that man. I got rear-ended on the 20th of June. Finally getting my X back today! Thank God I didn't have to pay for most of it. And insurance companies just suck!

Shouldn't you be able to take this ******-bag to small claims court? It's like a $50 to $100 fee I think.

Thought about court but the kid had no driver's license, it was his girlfriends car and neither had insurance. Both live in section of town where it's pretty poor, Don't have much. Drove past the address from driver;s licence. Couldn't get mush if I tried.
