Its a '99 OHV 106 1/2 miles on it, runs fine, just did a tune up (oil, oil filter, plugs). Other than bad front tires and a bad power steering pump, it runs great. I try to help the mpg, so I mostly go 1-2k rpms, not sure if thats helpful or not.

Knocking on acceleration:
Since I got it (about a month ago) it had a small knock, not at idle, just while I start to accelerate it has a small knock, I'm thinking since its an OHV, worn rods, but at 105k miles. Its not like a bad plug, or a misfire, not even the injectors, it could be a bad plug wire, but that would cause it to run rough, which is doesn't. Its not a big problem, but it gets me thinking if it will down the road when I try to re-sell it.

Rods won't usually knock on acceleration, but when you let off gas and take load off engine. Could you be hearing 'ping' when you accelerate? If so, try some higher octane gas to test. Just an idea.

Tried both Seafoam, and tried all three gas (low-mid-high), all still the same. I did a oil and filter change, figured it'd stop it, but I guess I was wrong. Its on acceleration, even light acceleration. I checked to if it was in the chassis or steering, and it basicly felt like it was within the engine, because it moves around with rpm under load, like say its shifting (automatic) the noise will not continue while going that same speed, it when the rpms hit a certain speed. I'm not able to hear the knock going 3k+ rpms, just around 1600-2100 rpms.

I'm going to be changing valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, and power steering pump, hopefully after I finish, the knock and annoying PS whicne will go away (aparently, the previous owner left it running dry, and it burnt the pump).

Edit: I guess I didnt notice from the the fan running at idle, but it seems the knock is at idle aswell, its very faint.

Is it like a detonation type knock? Those RPMs are real close for the TSB on the cam chain tensioner update.................
