Smallest Rim Size for Explorer

Hey guys I am pretty new to this site, so I am reading up on all the threads here. I own a 2013 Ford Explorer Sport, and working on turning it into a Jurassic Park explorer (UPDATED VERSION). Anywho I am also looking to get slightly bigger tires on it, is it 18" the smallest I can go? I still have the OEM 20" Sport Rims that came with the vehicle when I bought it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You should be able to find all terrains in 18s. One thing to consider is even if the wheels clear, you can still run into trouble. My buddy liked to run super low pros. He swapped out to rims that cleared by 1/2” or so. Driving me home one day( we lived on a dirt road) a rock kicked up into the rim and got wedged, and smashed a hole in it.

Welcome to the Forum.
The Sport is the only 2013 model that came with heavy duty (HD) brakes from the factory and as a result, an 18" wheel is as small as you can go. All others were upgraded to HD brakes sometime after a December 2012 date. Prior to that, a 17" wheel could be used.
