smells like antifreeze

Hey guys I have a question about my 05 sport trac exs.
The sport trac is basic as basic gets, only power windows, locks and ac.
Ac blows cold and the heater blows hot, both work wonderfully.

My problem is when I turn on the heater it smells like antifreeze.
When the ac is on it smells fine, its only when I turn the temperature up?
Does anyone know what would cause this? If so please help me out.

Are you losing antifreeze ? My guess would be heater core. Do your windows ever fog up when you turn the defroster on ?

No antifreeze loss and no the windows don't fog.

I am the same with my 2002 sport trac, I am going to just change the heater core, as its 10 years old now, and they sometimes due go. Never seen Anti-freeze down, nor is there a stain on the floor from liquid. I've checked this many times. But going to do a rad flush at same time. If bad heater core, it would likely getting bigger leak, so i am changing it, since i got one already.

Try Bar's Leak first. Much cheaper than a heater core.

I thought the same thing bout replacing the heatercore just in case. I priced them and auto zone has one for 50 bucks and advance wants 150 so hopefully the 50 dollar one is the right one money is little right right now. But I think I may try the stop leak and see what happens thanks for the info.

Also I'm selling some chrome side steps in perfect condition that came on my sport trac, if there us anyone interested let me know.
